Figures in Destruction is a series of paintings that I am working on that show figures going on with life after a devastating event such as an earthquake or an act of war. We all have to keep going. I use a layering of oil colors and wax and then carve and scrape back into to it to reveal figures which I then accent and detail further by going back in and carving and adding paint as needed. I usually have a composition in mind when I begin these paintings although there are always surprises.
