Throughout the years I’ve always enjoyed creating works of art to give as presents to those people in my life who are important. Over the last few years I have finally found enough time and space to pursue my dream of painting full time. I am fortunate to have a studio in Anaheim, CA as well as a studio in Portland, Oregon.

I recently started working with oil paints and I truly love them. I am continuing to explore different styles, themes, and techniques and I enjoy every day that I get to spend in my studio. A painting can take a day, week, or a month to complete due to the necessary drying time of oil paints and the addition of cold wax combined with the layering technique that I frequently use. Often times when I am working on a piece I get the most creative satisfaction as I am carving and scraping back into a painting which allows the painting to figuratively create itself. These moments in my studio are, for me, the crest of creating.

Painting is my peace and another avenue through which I’m able to create a connection with others. My paintings reveal much about me. Many of my pieces show my deep desire to make faint social comments through the depiction of emotions, activities, or struggles in daily life. Other works I approach with the idea of being somewhat free of restrictions as I play with the composition, color, materials and techniques. On some days I begin knowing exactly what I want to do and on others it is a surprise. Studio days bring me great joy, a sense of accomplishment and an excitement to share my work with others.
